Associate Degree in Marine Engineering

(In Accordance with IMO Model Course 7.04)

This model course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge,understanding and proficiency in Table A-III/1 of STCW 2010 for the function Marine Engineering, Electrical, Electronic and Control Engineering Maintenance and Repair at the Operational Level, Controlling the Operation of the Ship and Care for Persons on Board at the Operational Level.

Short Course

Personal Survival Techniques (PST)

Duration- 2.5 days

This course is in accordance with Sec A-VI/1-1 of the revised STCW ’78 Convention & Code as amended. This course is principally intended as basic training for seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity onboard ship as part of the ships complement with designated safety duties in operation of the ship. There are no particular educational requirements.

The competencies covered include:

  • Survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment
  • Types of life saving appliances
  • Principles concerning survival

Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting ( FPFF)

Duration - 3 Days

This course is in accordance with section A-VI/1-2 of the revised STCW Convention & Code as amended. It is suitable for employers to train their personnel or those employed or seeking to employ as Officers and Ratings on board vessels and Offshore installations. This course is mandatory for all seafarers before being employed on a seagoing ship.

The competencies covered include:

  • Minimize the risk of fire
  • Maintain a state of readiness to emergency situations
  • Fight & extinguish fires

Elementary First Aid (EFA)

Duration 2.5 Days

This course is in accordance with section A/VI/1-3 of the revised STCW Convention & Code as amended. This course is suitable for employers to train their personnel or those employed or seeking employment as Officers & Ratings on board vessels and Offshore installations.

The competencies covered include:

  • Appreciation of body structure and functions
  • Understanding immediate measures to be taken in case of emergencies
  • Assessment of needs of casualties
  • Rescue and transport a casualty
  • First aid and CPR

Personal Safety and Social Responsibility ( PSSR)

Duration 3 Days

This course is in accordance with section A/VI/1-4 of the revised STCW Convention & Code as amended. This course is suitable for employers to train their personnel or those employed or seeking employment as Officers & Ratings on board vessels and Offshore installations.

The competencies covered include:

  • Comply with emergency procedures
  • Take precautions to prevent pollution
  • Observe safe working practices
  • Effective communication
  • Effective human relationship on board
  • Actions to control fatigue

Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats( PSCRB)

Duration 5 Days

This course is in accordance with section A/VI/2-1 of the revised STCW Convention & Code as amended. This course is suitable for employers to train their personnel or those employed or seeking employment as Officers & Ratings on board vessels and Offshore installations.

The competencies covered include:

  • Take charge of survival craft/rescue boat after launch
  • Operate a survival craft engine
  • Observe safe working practices
  • Manage survivors and survival craft
  • Use of communication and signaling devices
  • Apply first aid to survivors

Security Awareness Training( SAT) and Designated Security Duties.( DSD)

Duration - 2 Days

This course is in accordance with section A/VI/6-2 of the revised STCW Convention & Code as amended. This course is suitable for employers to train their personnel or those employed or seeking employment as Officers & Ratings on board vessels and Offshore installations.

Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF)

Duration 5 Days

This course is in accordance with section A/VI/3 of the revised STCW Convention & Code as amended. This course is suitable for employers to train their personnel or those employed or seeking employment as Officers & Ratings on board vessels and Offshore installations.

The competencies covered include:

  • Control fire-fighting operations abord ships
  • Organize and train fire parties
  • Inspect and service fire detection and fire extinguishing systems
  • Investigate incidents of fire

Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker operations (BTOCT)

Duration: 12 Days

This course is in accordance with section A/VI/1-1-1-of the revised STCW Convention & Code as amended. This course is suitable for employers to train their personnel or those employed or seeking employment as Officers & Ratings on board vessels and Offshore installations.

The competencies covered include:

  • Contribute to safe cargo operation of oil and chemical tankers
  • Precautions to prevent hazards
  • Apply occupational health & safety precautions and measures
  • Carry out Fire-fighting operations
  • Respond to emergencies
  • Precautions to prevent pollution of the environment
